The Bible says in John 14:6, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. What a powerful statement Jesus made.
First of all, we see that it is Jesus, Himself, that is speaking. The only begotten Son of God (John 3:16), who has all power (Matthew 28:18). So, His words are spoken in complete authority and with great power.
The only one who had no sin, but died on the cross for sinful man
Jesus makes a declaration of His preeminence. He states that He is “the way”, “the truth” and “the life”. There is no other way, truth or life other than Jesus - just as God is the only God and there is no other besides Him (Isaiah 45:5). Jesus can make this declaration because He is God the Son, the only one who came to this earth to seek and save those that are lost (Luke 19:10). The only one who had no sin, but died on the cross for sinful man (Romans 5:8). The only one who was buried and rose again the third day and is alive for evermore (Revelation 1:18).
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Jesus declares that man can only come to the Father through Him. God the Father sent God the Son (Jesus) so that when man believes in Jesus, he can receive eternal life (John 3:16). Man believes in Jesus by confessing with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in his heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Then God makes the promise that who ever calls on the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).
Have you called upon the Lord to save you? Do you know that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life; and that you are going to the Father through Jesus Christ? God the Father resides in Heaven, so the only way to Heaven is through the Lord Jesus Christ. Don’t miss Heaven because you tried to go some other way. Jesus is the only way!
