In the Bible, we see 1 John 4:19 states, “We love him, because he first loved us.” Here we see the statement of a relationship between God and us. As in every relationship, someone is the initiator of the relationship. The Bible tells us here and in John 3:16, that God was the initiator of any relationship we have with Him. We also see in Romans 5:8 that God showed His love for us while we were yet sinning against Him. God definitely made the first move in love toward us.
God determined to show His love for us, before the world was even formed.
We also see in 1 John 1:19-21 (But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.) that God determined to show His love for us, before the world was even formed, by giving His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty of our sin for us.
So why wouldn’t we love God, who paid the price of our sin, forgave us of our sins and gave us eternal life. Do you love God? Have you shown your love for God by receiving His Son, Jesus Christ as your Savior? If you have not, I encourage you to pray today for God to save you, as the Bible shows us in Romans chapter 10 verses 9 through 10 and 13.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
